picnic day!! ☀️

today was SO NICE.
the weather was actually warm without being horribly hot. so lucy decided this automatically meant we should have a picnic. she texted: BRING FOOD
that was the entire plan.
dad helped me make little sandwiches before i left. i also baked some lemon cookies yesterday so i brought those too. lucy somehow brought enough snacks for about twelve people. naomi packed exactly one bottle of water and a sketchbook. which… is honestly very on-brand. sophie brought a blanket because she actually thinks ahead unlike the rest of us.
we ended up sitting by the river for ages. mostly just talking. lucy kept trying to skip stones. she managed one really good throw. then immediately celebrated so much that her next one landed about thirty centimeters away. (￣▽￣;)
naomi spent half the afternoon lying on the blanket doodling while still somehow keeping up with the conversation. i don't know how she does that. sophie taught me how to make little daisy chains. mine immediately fell apart. hers looked beautiful. i think she secretly has magic powers.
we also played twenty questions. lucy picked "traffic cone." none of us guessed it. i'm still annoyed.
by the time we packed everything up it was getting dark. we walked home together until our roads split off one by one. i always think that's the saddest part. you spend all day together. then suddenly everyone waves goodbye and disappears down different streets.

i'm really lucky.
i don't think i say that enough. ( ´ ▽ ` )
