i love boring days like this

today wasn't anybody's birthday. nothing exciting happened. we didn't even have plans. after school lucy just looked at all of us and went, "Does anyone actually want to go home yet?"
and somehow that became… three extra hours together. ( ´ ▽ ` )
we walked into town first. naomi wanted to stop by the bookshop because she was looking for another mystery novel. sophie somehow found three books she wanted before naomi even found one. lucy bought chocolate. obviously.
afterwards we ended up sitting in the little park behind the library. it was one of those really windy autumn afternoons where leaves keep blowing onto your lap. lucy tried catching them. she was surprisingly bad at it.

at one point we somehow started talking about what we'd all be doing in ten years.
lucy said she'd become famous. for what? she didn't know. she just said,
"Something."
naomi said she'd probably still be drawing. which honestly… yeah. i can picture that.
sophie wants a little house with lots of plants. i think she'd make it really cozy.
then they all looked at me. i said… i don't know. maybe something with baking. or maybe working in a café. somewhere quiet. where people smile because they had good food. that sounds nice.
...
then lucy said she'd come in every day and ask for free cake.
dream ruined.
