okay. this is probably the weirdest thing i've ever posted on here. i've been staring at this draft for like twenty minutes because i don't even know how to explain it properly.
before anyone says anything.

i time travelled. only by one day!! my bridge was almost finished and i got impatient. judge me if you want.

i set the clock forward one day. loaded into mossville. it was evening. and immediately something felt… off. not scary. just… quiet.
there wasn't any music for the first few seconds. i actually thought my game had frozen. then the music faded in halfway through the hourly theme. like it'd forgotten to start?? i remember thinking, "huh." that was weird.
then i walked into town. usually at least somebody is outside. especially in the evening. but… nobody was. i checked the plaza. nothing. the beach. nothing. the museum. empty. i went to a few houses. every single one was dark.
eventually i saw someone. freya. standing outside the town hall. she wasn't walking. she wasn't looking around. she wasn't doing the little idle animation villagers normally do. she was just… standing there. completely still. i waited for a few seconds because i thought maybe she'd start moving. nothing. so i walked closer. still nothing. i remember thinking maybe she'd frozen somehow.
then… she moved. just… started walking. completely normally. except… there were little squares falling off her. not colourful ones. they looked… grey. maybe black? it was hard to tell because it was nighttime. they weren't leaves. or dust. or pixels from the ground. they were coming off her. tiny cubes. they drifted behind her for maybe three or four steps. then disappeared before they hit the ground.
and then… nothing. freya looked completely normal again. she even did her usual little smile when i talked to her. completely normal dialogue. like nothing had happened. i actually stood there for a while wondering if i'd imagined it.i walked around trying to see if it would happen again. it didn't. she looked completely fine.
… i got scared. not because i thought my game was haunted or anything. just because… i've never seen a game do that before. especially not animal crossing. it didn't feel like a funny little visual glitch.it felt… wrong. i closed the game. without saving. (╥﹏╥) changed my clock back. opened it again. and everything was completely normal. everyone was outside again. music started immediately. freya was wandering around like always. no weird little cubes. nothing.
...
resetti yelled at me. which honestly made me feel a little better because at least that was normal. i still apologized to him though. (´；ω；`)
i've spent basically all afternoon searching online. i've looked through forums. old tumblr posts. reddit. youtube. i cannot find ANYTHING that looks like what i saw. people have posted texture glitches. villagers sitting in rivers. floating objects. missing faces. none of it looks even remotely similar. has ANYONE ever seen anything like this before? because i'm genuinely curious. i kind of wish i'd recorded it.
i don't know. maybe my 3ds just had a weird moment. maybe i was tired. maybe there really is some super obscure bug nobody talks about.
...i still kind of want to know.

Could the game have briefly failed to load part of her model? I'm not saying that's definitely what happened. Just trying to think of possibilities.

The delayed music sounds stranger than the visual glitch, honestly. Games don't usually "remember" to start music.
