Otsukimi Recital — Jin
today was really nice.
dad had a quieter day at work, so instead of rushing around all evening we actually got to spend time together. we went to the market in the morning and picked out ingredients for dinner. he let me choose the dessert. which obviously means i chose strawberries.
we walked around for ages because dad kept stopping to talk to people he knew. i think everyone knows him. seriously. every five minutes someone was like, "oh, good morning!" and then they'd talk about food for ten minutes. i mostly listened. i like listening when dad talks about cooking. he gets really excited about tiny details that i would never notice. like butter temperature. or how long dough should rest. or why certain herbs taste better together.
after dinner we baked together. properly. not just me making a mess while he supervises. he actually let me do most of it. and when we finished, he said,
"You're getting good at this."
i know that's such a small thing. but it made me really happy.
sometimes i think i forget that parents are people too. dad works so hard all the time. i'm glad we had a calm day together. ( ´ ▽ ` )
